EVENTS & HAPPENINGS at VICTORIAN LACE INN
SUMMER 2009
"Kids Can Cook" Films at The Victorian Lace Inn
The "Kids Can Cook" TV show taped on location at the Victorian Lace Inn in July. Local children tried their hands at cooking and serving a sumptuous breakfast at the inn, and learning about food preparation and other cultures, using locally grown ingredients.
In addition to cooking, the "Kids" took a trip to the Washington Street Mall where they were met by local retired schoolteacher Charlotte Todd. Dressed as Martha Washington, Charlotte gave the children an historical tour around the center of Cape May.
"Kids Can Cook" is a NYC-based cable show airing since 1991 in New York and throughout Florida. Filmed on location in the US, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, the basic concept is to reach out to a diverse group of children, incorporating foods from their respective countries, neighborhoods and cultures.
The Victorian Lace Inn was chosen from among all the B&B's in Cape May because the inn welcomes families with children at their accommodations. The inn provided each of the children with their own monogrammed chef's hat and monogrammed apron...along with lots of other goodies!
